近年、ガラス、特に女性ガラス作家が生み出すガラス作品の人気が高まっていることを感じます。鈴木さんの作品の象徴たるアイテムはボトル。吹きガラスで優しく、ノスタルジーなくすみ感のある作品。その中からまた違う色が浮き上がり、ボトルに封じ込められた空間でさえ、生命の息吹があるように感じます。
ボトルと言いましても、ワインボトルのような大きさではなくBIOMEに寄せられたのはむしろ小さなサイズ。えてして、小ぶりの作品はオブジェにして楽しまれる方が多いかもしれませんが、BIOMEは積極的に暮らしの中で使われてゆけばいいのになと思います。
ガラスの特徴は、透明（透け感）と適度な耐熱性、強度と経年劣化の少なさですが、諸刃で落とせば割れるし、白化も否めません。
しかし、このボトルはそれをも凌駕する魅力が。
お気に入りのフレグランス、オイル、自家製化粧水など、中に入れるものによって変化する色合いも楽しいのではないでしょうか。
ちなみに、小さな石や貝、そんなものも入れたりします。砂を積層にするのも楽しい。
