ギャラリーを始める前から存じ上げた吉村さんのガラス作品。少なくとも関西では取り扱いも多く、作品の模様は、彼女＝それとすぐに結びつく著名な作品だと申し上げても過言ではないかと思います。
ツギハギ作品を今回寄せてくださいました。けれどいつも拝見するものとは違い、より日本の四季や色を感じさせるようだなと思ったのが第一印象でした。
童話『三匹のくま』をどうしても彷彿してしまうのですが、大きいのと中くらいのと小さいの。そんな展開も楽しい。
それはさておき、ファブリックのパッチワークもそうですが、色と柄を繋ぎ合わせるのをどんなふうにするかにより、さまざまなイメージを喚起させるのが楽しい作品。
作品そのものは重い物ではありません。しかし、蓋が重みをしっかりと持たされていて、安定感のある器としても、十分に楽しめます。
蓋を豆皿に、器をボウルにするのも楽しそう。すでに吉村作品をお持ちの方でも、たからものforおくりもの展覧会の作品は特別です！
Yoshimura’s glasswork has been familiar since before the gallery began. In Kansai, her pieces are widely exhibited, and their distinctive patterns have become synonymous with her name.
This time, she has presented Tsugihagi (patchwork) pieces. Unlike her usual works, these seem to capture the colors and essence of Japan’s four seasons even more vividly.
The fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears comes to mind—one large, one medium, one small. The variation adds to the charm.
Like fabric patchwork, how colors and patterns are pieced together creates endless possibilities, sparking different impressions. While the pieces are light, the lids carry a deliberate weight, offering stability and functionality.
Using the lid as a small plate and the vessel as a bowl could be an interesting approach.
