Rising in popularity, yet unwavering in sincerity, Nihonga artist Okumura remains deeply dedicated to his craft. Due to time constraints, an original painting was not possible for this occasion, but he has graciously contributed a more accessible giclée print.
This work is part of the Haku-kozu series, featuring a unique theme—an airplane interior. Take a close look at each item depicted. Haku-kozu refers to ancient Chinese illustrated catalogs of ritual vessels, compiling treasured antiques and gemstones from the imperial court and noble households. Having studied traditional Chinese painting techniques during his time in China, Okumura brings a fresh perspective by replacing these historical objects with contemporary items, creating an intriguing dialogue between past and present.
